Gardai have launched an investigation after a teenager was stabbed during a shocking New Year's Eve incident in Cork.
The victim was rushed to Cork University Hospital following the incident which happened close to the Grand Parade shortly before midnight, CorkBeo reports.
One person has been arrested.
A statement released to CorkBeo has now clarified that the person in question is a male in his teens while the victim is also a teenage man.
"Gardaí are investigating an assault that occurred on Castle Street, Cork, shortly after 10:30pm last night, Friday 31st December 2021.
"A male in his late teens is understood to have been stabbed. He was brought to Cork University Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
"A man in his teens has been arrested in relation to this incident and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at the Bridewell Garda station.

"Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them. They are also particularly keen for anyone with camera footage of the incident to provide it to investigating Gardaí.
