Teenager 'severely injured' after falling 50ft at waterfall

A teenager has been left severely injured after falling 50ft at a waterfall.

Western Beacons Mountain Rescue were called to Henrhyd Falls, Brecon , at 3.07pm on Friday after reports of a teenage boy falling 50ft. A spokesman for the service said the boy had sustained "a very severe leg injury".

The team deployed volunteers and also received assistance from Central Beacons rescuers. They have since been stood down.

Dr Alex Evans, Western Beacons team doctor, said: "The rescue required a technical rope system to rescue the injured male.

"Once recovered we treated the male along with assistance from hazardous area response teams.

"The injured male was then delivered to the ambulance for transportation to hospital for further treatment."

A spokesman for Western Beacons Mountain Rescue said the team were still waiting for an update regarding the boy's condition.
