Teenager seriously injured after hit and run

A teenage biker was seriously injured in a hit and run in Birkenhead on Christmas afternoon.

Emergency Services were called at around 12.45pm on December 25 to Hoylake Road following reports of a collision involving an unknown vehicle and a scrambler bike rider.

The teenage male rider was removed via air ambulance and has been taken to hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries to his leg.

Police confirm he is in a 'serious but stable condition'.

The driver failed to stop at the scene and an investigation is underway.

Merseyside Police is appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation.



Hoylake Road, Ilchester Road and Stanley Road are currently closed while the incident is being dealt with, and drivers are advised to find an alternative route.

A police spokesman said: "Thank you for your patience as we deal with this incident.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information which could assist the investigation, is asked to call the Matrix Roads Policing Unit on (0151) 777 1530 or contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook quoting reference 0338 of 25 December."
