A teenager has been air-lifted to hospital with serious injuries after she fell onto rocks while jumping off a cliff into water.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to the scene at Catherine Hill Bay about 2.30pm on Sunday.

The critical care team stabilised the 17-year-old girl, who suffered multiple injuries and fractures, and took her to John Hunter Hospital.

A statement from the helicopter service said the girl stumbled and fell 10 to 15 metres onto rocks as she attempted to jump into the water from a cliff.
