Teenager's body found on road at busy carriageway of the A1

A 19-year-old man has died after a body was found on the carriageway of the A1.

Lincolnshire Police were called to the Great North Road, Barrowby, following reports that the body had been found near Gorse Bridge.

Police and highways officers closed off the road for about five hours in both directions following the call, at 2.30am on June 4.

The road has since reopened.

Lincolnshire Police have confirmed the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson said: "We received a report of a body of a man in the road at around 2.30am on June 4. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The road was closed but has since re-opened.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or anyone who may have dashcam footage that will assist with our investigation to contact us."
