Teenager rescued after being 'trapped under bus' in Arklow, Co Wicklow

A teenager was airlifted to hospital after being trapped under a bus in Co Wicklow.

The incident happened on Vale Road in Arklow town this afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 4.30pm, and the 14-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital.

He is currently being treated at Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin.

A garda spokeswoman said: “A bus collided with a 14 year old male youth and he has been airlifted to Temple Street Children’s University Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

“The road is currently closed but Main Street, Arklow is accessible.

“Investigations ongoing.”

An AA Roadwatch spokesman added: “Vale Rd (R747) is blocked in Arklow at the Main St as Gardaí deal with an incident. It’s very slow on all approaches and diversions are in place.”
