The Manchester Evening News understands the boy has told officers he was punched a total of ten times.

The boy did not require hospital treatment, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

However, an investigation has now been launched with officers trying to trace the culprit

"The suspect is described as a white male, bald, approximately 50 years old and wearing a blue shirt and brown jeans" GMP said.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact police quoting incident 2871 of 25/08/2021" they added.

Information can also be reported online or by using the LiveChat function the force's website, by ringing 101, or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
