Teenager punched in the face during robbery in the Arndale centre

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was punched in the face during an attempted robbery in the Arndale centre.

The muggers tried to steal the victim's coat, but fled empty-handed

It took place at about 5.10pm on Monday, February 15, close to the Withy Grove entrance.

Police say two males approached the teen, demanded he hand over his coat and hit him in the face.

They then ran off towards Withy Grove.

They are described as two white males, aged between 13 and 18 years old, of slim build, wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and coats.

Police say no further details are known about the victim at this stage.

Anyone who has any information about the robbery should call police on 0161 856 6059 quoting incident number 2466 of February 15 Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
