Teenager on bike 'chased and assaulted by man in car'

Police are investigating after a teenager was thrown off his bike and assaulted on Thursday.

Police said the incident occurred on May 28th in the Beauly Drive area of Dundonald.

Inspector Neil Beck said: “At around 4.10pm, it was reported that a 15-year-old male was cycling in the Craigleith Drive area when it was reported that an orange coloured BMW X6 was in the area.

"A short time later, the male youth was at the Beauly Drive area when he was chased by a male who was in the orange coloured vehicle. The male managed to push the youth to the ground and as he got to his feet, the male threw the bicycle at him which struck him on his chest causing minor injuries.

“The male received injuries to his left hand, his right knee, his right arm and back during the incident, that are not believed to be life threatening.

“We believe there were a number of people in the area at the time of the incident, who may be able to assist with our investigation.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and we would appeal to anyone with any information to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1719 28/05/20.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
