A teenager was killed in a horror hit-and-run in Co Louth last night.
The shocking incident happened when two cars collided in Ballymascanlon, Dundalk at around 9pm.
A man in his late teens, who was a passenger is one of the vehicles, died at the scene, with the driver of the same car fleeing on foot.
The body of the deceased remains at the scene.
The driver of the second car, a man in his 40s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with minor injuries.
The man who fled the scene on foot has since presented himself to gardai and is assisting the investigation.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been notified and are due to commence their investigations shortly.
The road remains closed at this time, with local diversions in place.
A spokesman said: "Gardaí at Dundalk are appealing for anyone with information in relation to this collision to come forward.
"Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the Ballymascanlon area from 8p.m. to 9p.m. to make this footage available to Gardaí.
