Teenager injured in Coatbridge as police tape off street

Police have locked down a street in Coatbridge after a teenager was injured this afternoon.

Officers raced to Highcross Avenue after receiving reports of a disturbance shortly after 12:35pm.

The 19-year-old was taken to Monklands Hospital with an arm injury.

A local eyewitness reports the street has been taped off as police investigate the area.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Enquiries are ongoing and at an early stage.

"Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 1730 of 25 January, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

It comes after following an incident near Coatbridge police station.

One man was found with injuries to his chest on Whittington Street shortly before 7am this morning.

A second man was discovered with injuries to his back within a house on the street.

Police remain at the scene.
