Teenager in hospital after street rammy stabbing

A teenager is in hospital after being stabbed in the leg during a street rammy in Paisley last night.

Police were called to Oakshaw Street, in Paisley, just before 11pm on Saturday following reports that a 16-year-old had been stabbed in the leg.

Last night police said they are treating the incident as attempted murder.

The victim was part of a large gang who were hanging about the Oakshaw Street area.

A disturbance broke out and the boy was stabbed in the leg.

Emergency services were called and an ambulance rushed the boy to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

He was later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Medics there have described his condition as stable.

Police also attended the scene and took a number of witnesses in for questioning after the stabbing, which happened at 10.45pm.

They are currently searching for the suspect, who was wearing red trousers.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police were called at 10.50pm on Saturday to a report of someone being stabbed in Oakshaw Street in Paisley.

“An ambulance attended and a 16-year-old male was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

“Enquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch by calling 101.
