Teenager in court as Scots cops crack down on 'county lines dealers'

A teenager has appeared in court after cops cracked down on 'county lines' gangsters terrorising Scots communities.

The 19-year-old man appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday after being charged in connection with the supply of Class A drugs.

Police had been tipped off over concerns of 'cuckooing' in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire which can be connected to the deadly 'county lines' drug trade.

Criminals, often from major English cities, will expand and set up shop in small towns and communities where they will exploit vulnerable people to use their homes for major crimes.

Bosses exploit young and vulnerable people to sell drugs, carry cash and weapons – bringing violence, coercion and abuse.

Known as 'cuckooing'-over a vulnerable person’s house – with disabled and elderly people often targetted

Constable Christopher Cran, from the Community Policing Team in Fraserburgh, said: "This type of behaviour will not be tolerated within North East communities or by the Police.

"I would urge anyone with information or concerns in relation to drug-related criminality to contact Police.

"There are support services through local authorities that can help victims and prevent them becoming repeat victims of individuals who target vulnerable people."
