A grief-stricken teenager discovered his mum had died in a chilling Snapchat message.
Trent Thomsen, 18, was devastated to read the alert his cousin sent him on Sunday morning.
"All she said was, 'Trent, your mum died last night' – that’s all she said," the teenager said.
His mum Julie, 36, was hit by a vehicle on a busy dual-carriageway in Hatton Vale, Queensland in Australia, late on Saturday evening.
Julie was walking with another person back to a broken-down vehicle on the side of the road when she was struck, police believe.
Now officers are searching for the driver who fled the scene.
Trent, from Ipswich, Queensland, said his mother was "nice, caring and helpful".

The Gratton Star reports Trent's devastated sister has appealed for information about her mother's death on Facebook .
No arrests have been made at this stage.
It comes after tragic last Snapchat messages emerged of a boy who died at a concert.
Matthew Jones, 17, was found blue-faced inside his zipped-up sleeping bag when his friends returned to their tent at the campsite.
An inquest into his death heard how Matthew had sent a Snapchat message to pals saying "I'm sorry" asking them to pass it to his parents.
He also texted a friend saying "I'm going to die."
