Teenager 'discharged' and 'back at home' after being stabbed in street

A teenager who was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the street has been discharged and is now back at home, the Manchester Evening News understands.

The 15-year-old had been taken to hospital with serious injuries but was said to be in a stable condition following the attack in the early hours of Sunday morning (November 27). Police said they had received a report of the teenager being stabbed following a robbery on Darnley Street, Old Trafford.

One 20-year-old man was arrested in Chorlton on suspicion of robbery later in the day by officers on Sunday, but was then bailed as investigations continued into the attack.

The M.E.N reported how the eyewitnesses heard the teenage boy cry out that he'd been stabbed and knocked on doors trying to get help following the 'vicious' street attack. It is understood by the M.E.N the victim has now been discharged from hospital and is back at home.

In a direct response to the incident, Greater Manchester Police introduced stop and search powers in the area in response on Sunday evening. On Monday evening (November 28), those powers were then extended until 4am the next day with an increased officer presence on the streets.
