Teenager dies in horror A96 two-vehicle crash as 23-year-old fighting for life

A teenager has died in a horror two-vehicle crash in Moray.

Emergency services closed the A96 near Keith in Moray for several hours after the alarm was raised at around 7.35pm on Monday, July 26.

A lime green Ford Fiesta and a yellow Ford Transit van were involved in the fatal crash.

The 18-year-old driver of the Fiesta was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Three people - aged 23, 28 and 19 - who were within the Ford Transit were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The 23-year-old is in a critical condition.

A number of police vehicles, ambulances and a helicopter could be seen on the road.

Fire crews were also present while a covering had been placed over one vehicle.

The road was closed for nine hours and has since reopened.

Police in the North East are appealing for information following the horror crash.

Sergeant Craig McNeil, of the Road Policing Unit based in Aberdeen, said: "Enquiries are ongoing and we're appealing for people with any information, dash-cam footage and who perhaps saw either vehicle shortly before the crash to contact us."
