Teenager dies in car crash near Geelong

A teenage boy has died after being involved in a car crash in Batesford.

A teenage boy has died after a crash near Geelong on Saturday afternoon.

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit are on the scene of the fatal crash in Batesford, 10 kilometres west of Geelong.

A Victoria Police spokesman said in a statement the single-vehicle crash happened on private property on Cullinan Road.

The spokesman confirmed a boy in his mid-teens was driving a ute when it crashed about 2:00pm. The vehicle overturned.

Emergency services attempted to revive a teenage passenger, but he died at the scene.

The driver is assisting police with their enquiries.
