Teenager dies and another taken to hospital after car overturns

A teenage boy has died after the car he was driving overturned.

An off-duty doctor and bystanders rushed to help the boy - who was trapped in the vehicle after it overturned in Solihull shortly after 9.30pm on Monday, November 23.

Paramedics rushed to the scene but the driver died at the scene, Birmingham Live reports.

A teenage girl who was a passenger in the car was taken to hospital.

West Midlands Police have confirmed the boy who died was aged just 15 and had been behind the wheel of a silver Renault Clio.

Officers are now investigating the incident and revealed the driver of a second car, believed to be a grey Peugeot 206, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is an extremely tragic incident and our thoughts go out to the family of the young man involved.

"We are in the early stages of our investigation and still need to gather all available evidence.

"With this in mind I would ask that people do not speculate on the circumstances of the collision, especially on social media.

"This does nothing to help our investigation or support the families and others involved."
