Teenager dies after incident near Strathclyde University as road cordoned off

A teenager has died following an incident near Strathclyde University in the early hours of this morning.

The 18-year-old man was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment after he was found injured in Rottenrow. However, he sadly died shortly after.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 1.50am, with Police Scotland still at the scene.

The area has been cordoned off to all members of the public.

Officers have confirmed that the teenager's death is being treated as unexplained, with an investigation into the incident launched.

Chief Inspector Craig Walker, Local Area Commander for Glasgow said: “Around 1.50am on Wednesday, 9 December, 2020 emergencies services were called to a report of a man found injured in Rottenrow, Glasgow. 

"An 18-year-old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment where he died a short time later.  His death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.   

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
