Teenager dies after being struck by van in Glasgow's east end

A teenager has died after being struck by a van in the east end of Glasgow earlier this morning (Sunday).

Police have confirmed an 18-year-old was treated by emergency services, but died at the scene, on Barrowfield Street in Barrowfield.

Meanwhile, a second man, age 20, was seriously injured following the incident and is currently being treated in hospital where he is understood to be in a critical condition.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed to Glasgow Live: "At around 6.45am this morning, an 18-year-old man was struck by a van on Barrowfield Street.

"He was treated for his injuries but died at the scene.

"A second man, 20, has been seriously injured. He has been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment where his condition is described by medical staff as critical.

"Extensive enquiries - which are at a very early stage - to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing."
