A teenager has died after coastguards pulled him from the water in North Wales.

The 13-year-old was recovered at Pigeon's Cove on the Great Orme in Llandudno on Saturday night, police said.

He was airlifted to Bangor hospital but sadly passed away. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A member of the public first called 999 shortly before 9pm on Saturday to report a person was in the water, a spokeswoman from HM Coastguard said.

She said: "Llandudno Coastguard Rescue Team, RNLI Llandudno inshore and all weather lifeboats, HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Caernarfon, North Wales Police and Welsh Ambulance Service were sent to the scene.

"The person was recovered from the water and was airlifted to Bangor hospital."
