A teenager has died after she was found unconscious at student accommodation in Newcastle.
The 18-year-old woman died at a university hall of residence yesterday, police said.
Norhumbria Police said officers were called by an ambulance service at 6.06am Saturday and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The force said: “The investigation is at an early stage but it is not believed to be a Covid-19 related death.”

They were called to the Richardson Road area of the city at just after 6am yesterday, where the 18-year-old woman was found unresponsive.
A row of police cars was pictured outside the student village following the call-out.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 6.06am on Saturday police received a report via the ambulance service of an unresponsive woman at an address on Richardson Road in Newcastle.
“Emergency services attended where sadly the woman – aged 18 – was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries into the circumstances around her death are ongoing. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers at this time."
Police confirmed the death was unrelated to coronavirus, as an outbreak rips through the Northumbria University campus.
The university had confirmed on Friday that 770 of its students had tested positive for Covid-19, and 78 are symptomatic.
Concerns were raised this weekend over scenes of young people partying in Newcastle-upon-Tyne during the outbreaks, despite local restrictions and the national 'rule of six.'
Northumbria University had said in a previous statement the surge in positive cases was linked to rigorous campus testing.
Its statement warned: "We are making it clear to students that if they break the rules they will be subject to fines from police and disciplinary action by the Universities which may include fines, final warnings or expulsion."
