Teenager dies after being found 'injured' in Edinburgh as cops launch investigation

A teenager has died after being found injured on a street in Edinburgh this morning.

The 18-year-old was discovered in Viewcraig Street in Dumbiedykes in the capital, at around 3.45am on Sunday.

He was then rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but died a short time later. Police Scotland say the death is being treated as unexplained.

Pictures have shown forensic officers combing the scene, with police remaining at the scene this afternoon.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Around 3.45am on Sunday, 12 February, 2023, officers were called to a report of an 18-year-old man found injured in Viewcraig Street, in the Dumbiedykes area of Edinburgh.

"Emergency services attended and he was taken to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he died a short time later.

"His next of kin are aware. The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

"Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing."
