A teenager has died after falling over 1,300 feet during a walk in Snowdonia, an inquest has heard.
Christopher Jack Wilson, 18, was climbing Crib-y-Ddysgl, next to Snowdon, with his dad, on July 26, when he fell, reports North Wales Live.
The duo from Brixham in Devon were about a quarter of the way up Crib-y-Ddysgl when the incident happened at approximately 3pm.
North Wales Police officers, as well as mountain rescue volunteers and their air ambulances were called, but unfortunately Christopher was unable to be saved, and pronounced dead at the scene.
The inquest into his death was formally opened in Caernarfon today.
It heard how, following a post-mortem examination, a provisional cause of death was given as "multiple injuries including fractured cervical vertebrae".
Assistant senior coroner, Sarah Riley, adjourned the inquest pending a full investigation.
Similarly, last month, a mum-of-two was killed in a tragic 150ft fall while looking for a picturesque infinity pool at the summit of Wales' highest mountain.
Teacher Victoria Luck, described by her family as "caring and talented", plunged down a mountain after getting lost in search for the Snowdonia infinity pool.
An inquest heard Miss Luck, 47, had been hiking with her partner Matthew Radnor, with the pair looking for the beauty spot infinity pool near the Llanberis Pass having seen it on TikTok.
Mr Radnor had taken her away more than 100 miles from their home in Wolverhampton to Betws-y-Coed for the weekend as an early Christmas present.
Miss Luck was a keen walker described as being an "energetic, healthy, active person", and the pair set out with their dog when they got lost.
They decided to descend the mountain in different directions in an attempt to find their way down, with Mr Radnor taking a route which was easier for their black and white Collie-cross Louis to walk down.
Mr Radnor said the pair had met just a few months before in the summer of 2021 and "hit it off straight away".
He said: "We were in love, I felt like I had met my soulmate and within two weeks we were making plans for the future, we planned to get married.
"I saw the infinity pool on TikTok and showed it to her, she was quite taken with it and thought it looked amazing so we decided to go."
The Caernarfon inquest heard the pair got lost on the notorious Crib Goch ridge on the mountain - and decided to take different paths
But within a few minutes, he heard Miss Luck "yelp", but did not witness her fall.
Mr Radnor said: "Louis was clever, I started shouting and he knew something was up, he was looking down the mountain with a concerned look on his face, he knew something was wrong."
Mr Radnor alerted other walkers in the area that there had been an incident when he began shouting for help.
A coastguard rescue helicopter found special educational needs teacher but she died that day, six days before Christmas in December 2021.
Assistant senior coroner for North West Wales, Sarah Riley, recorded a conclusion that Miss Luck's death was down to "misadventure".
