Teenager chased into Selfridges and hit with display mirror in shocking attack

A teenager had to be taken to hospital after being chased by a mob into a department store and attacked with a mirror.

Police were called at around 6.50pm on Monday evening after the man, said to be in his late teens, was attacked inside Selfridges.

He was punched a number of times before being hit over the head with a display mirror in the Manchester city centre store, according to police.

Stunned witnesses inside the store in Exchange Square said security and staff rushed to his aid close to the Tiffany concession.

Paramedics were also called and he was taken to hospital for treatment for a head injury, but this is not believed to be serious.

The group responsible fled afterwards and police are now appealing for help tracing those responsible.
