Teenager charged with theft after 61-year-old woman's bag snatched in Bolton

A teenage boy has been charged with theft after a woman's handbag was stolen in the street in Bolton.

Kyle Crossman, 18, of Blenheim Road, has been charged with theft from a person and five counts of fraud.

The 61-year-old victim was on Deepdale Road, in Breightmet, on Friday, April 3, when her bag was grabbed from her.

It contained bank cards which were then used in a number of shops around the area.

Police investigating the theft had made three arrests. On Wednesday, April 8, a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of theft from a person and fraud and was later released under investigation.

Then, on Sunday, April 12, a 16-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of theft from a person and fraud and was later released under investigation.

Finally, on Tuesday, April 21, a 15-year-old boy was interviewed in relation to a fraud and was released under investigation.

The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has since been issued with a youth caution for fraud.

The 16-year-old boy, who also cannot be named for legal reasons, has been referred to the Youth Offending Team for theft from a person and fraud.

Now, police say that Mr Crossman is charged with both theft and fraud. He is due to appear at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday August 11.
