Teenager charged with murder following stabbing of Tyrone Hayman in Bedminster

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of Tyrone Hayman.

Tyrone, aged 17, was stabbed to death on Saturday (14 December) in a knife attack at a property on Parson Street, in Bedminster.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police  confirmed results from a post-mortem examination showed he had died from a single stab wound to the chest.

The 14-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, remains in custody and will appear before Bristol Youth Court tomorrow (Wednesday, December 18).

His mother Elaine Campbell and step-father Michael Mutuma described Tyrone as 'kind with an infectious smile'.

Mr Mutuma, 47, of St Jude's said: "When I heard the news I was shocked. I was at work at the time. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't make sense of it. His heart had stopped - why?

Tyrone's mum, Elaine, was by his side when he died in hospital (Facebook)

"Tyrone was the most passionate and quick-witted guy. He was very sociable. He loved hanging out with his friends. He was always saying 'I want to go out'.

"He was very popular. He was kind and his smile was infectious. He loved company. It's just tragic. He had his problems but he was a great guy.

"He was a talented footballer and he was very good in school - he was always top of the class. We had no complaints. He was excellent.

"We were very proud of him. We expected too much from him. You could see he had a bright future.

"He was a nice guy. You could have fun, laugh and joke. He was just unique."

Detective Inspector Phil Walker, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: "We'd like to thank the public for their patience and assistance during this investigation.

"Our thoughts continue to be with Tyrone's family at what is undoubtedly a difficult time and we will continue to support them in any way we can."
