Teenager charged over death of man after disturbance in Johnstone

A teenager has been charged after a man was found dead in Johnstone High Street.

The body of John Winter was discovered by police after reports of a disturbance on Wednesday at around 8.30pm.

Paramedics attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 26-year-old victim's family have been made aware.

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: "A 17-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 26-year-old man in Johnstone.

On Wednesday, 1 April, 2020, police received a report of a disturbance in the High Street.

"Officers attended and a 26-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"He can be named as John Winter from Johnstone."

The 17-year-old man has appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court today, April 3.

He was charged with murder, made no plea and was remanded in custody.
