Teenager charged in connection with attempted murder in Rutherglen

Police have confirmed a teenager has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Rutherglen.

Officers responded to a report a man had been seriously assaulted on Rutherglen's Farmeloan Road shortly after midnight on Thursday.

A 51-year-old was rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and medics described his condition as 'critical'.

Police have since confirmed an 18-year-old man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed to Glasgow Live this morning: "An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Rutherglen.

"Around 12.05am, police received a report a man had been seriously assaulted in Farmeloan Road, Rutherglen.

"An 18-year-old man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday 22 October, 2021."
