Teenager charged after being 'caught driving at 134mph' on 60mph Scots road

A teenager has been charged after police allegedly caught the youngster speeding at "134mph" on a 60mph Scots road.

The 19-year-old was reportedly spotted driving at more than double the speed limit on the A75 westbound near Carrutherstown in Dumfries and Galloway at around 9.30pm on Tuesday, July 20.

He was detected as a result of static speed checks by officers in the area.

Officers shared an image of a speedgun showing 134mph.

He was charged for dangerous driving and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

The incident happened on the A75 westbound near Carrutherstown in Dumfries and Galloway (Google Maps)

Following the incident the Dumfries Galloway Police Division said on Facebook: "Road Policing Officer's charged a 19yr old man for dangerous driving after being caught speeding, driving 134mph in a 60mph limit area.

"The faster you drive, the bigger the risk of crashing, causing death and serious injury to yourself and others."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 19-year-old man was charged in connection with dangerous driving after Road Policing Officers stopped him while driving on the A75 westbound near to Carrutherstown on Tuesday, 20 July.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
