Teenager Caden Kelly signs first professional contract with Sunderland

Sunderland have awarded teenage midfielder Caden Kelly his first professional contract - keeping him on Wearside until 2024. The 18-year-old, who is also capable of playing in a variety of forward roles, stepped up to the club's U23 side last season.

He made 19 Premier League 2 appearances for the U23s, and also played 12 games for the U18s, scoring five goals in total. He also made his first-team debut in October, coming on as a late substitute in the EFL Trophy group game against Manchester United U21.

Kelly was born in the Republic of Ireland and brought up in Manchester, and he was previously part of Manchester City's youth setup before joining Sunderland as a scholar. Kelly is currently out in Portugal with Alex Neil's first-team squad.
