Teenager attacked by dog as he protected his own pet during riverside walk in Perth

A 13-year-old boy was attacked by a dog as he tried to protect his own pet.

The terrifying incident happened on a cycle path next to the railway bridge by the River Almond in Perth.

The teenager was walking his own dog at around 7pm when it was attacked by a white Staffordshire terrier with dark spots.

When the youngster attempted to protect his dog, the animal bit him repeatedly on the lower leg.

Fortunately he was not badly injured, and his dog was not hurt.

The incident happened on a cycle path near this bridge close to the River Almond (Perthshire Advertiser)

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on Friday, July 17.

The owners of the Staffordshire terrier are described as a man in his 20s, about 6ft wearing a white shirt and trousers, and a woman in her 20s with shoulder length straight hair and wearing a cardigan and light trousers.

They did intervene and managed to pull their dog away.

A police spokesperson said: “If you have any information that could assist our investigation, please call 101 or speak with any police officer.
