Teenager assaulted after group 'force their way into house' in West Belfast

A teenager was injured after a group forced their way into a West Belfast house and attacked him in the early hours of the morning.

Police received reports that at around 3.10am on Sunday, August 1, three males forced their way into a house in the St James' Road area before attacking the occupant and making off with a number of items that were inside.

A window of the property was also smashed by one of the intruders during the incident.

The victim suffered injuries which are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

Police are asking anyone who may have any information regarding the incident to contact them.

Detective Sergeant Gardiner said: "It’s reported that, when inside, one of the intruders smashed a window.

"A man aged in his late teens, who was inside the property, was assaulted and has sustained injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.

"The three then made off on foot, taking a number of items.

"We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, or who may have captured dash cam footage, to contact us on 101 quoting reference 388 of 01/08/21."
