A teenage boy was arrested on suspicion of rape after a 17-year-old girl was allegedly attacked in a hotel.
Police said the teenage girl was allegedly assaulted at the Scarisbrick Hotel, on Lord Street in Southport .
The rape was reported on Wednesday, March 4, officers said.
An investigation was launched and police have confirmed a 17-year-old boy was arrested.
He is from Birkdale and was arrested on March 5.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "The boy has since been released under investigation and enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
