A teenager who was arrested in connection with a murder in Consett has been released on conditional bail.
The 14-year-old was taken into custody on Thursday evening after a 47-year-old man died from a serious injury on a residential street.
Emergency services were called to Southernwood at around 5.33pm following reports of an altercation.
Doctors and paramedics attended but the man, who has now been named as Davie Cameron, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The teen was arrested on suspicion of murder but police have now confirmed he has been released.
They have also appealed for anyone who may be able to help with their enquiries to come forward.
A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "A 14-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder following the tragic death of David Cameron has been released on conditional bail.
"Anyone who has any information that could help the investigation and has not already spoken to police should call 101."
