Teenager arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car was driven 'at speed' into man leaving him fighting for life

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car was driven 'at speed' into a man, leaving him fighting for his life.

Police were called to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and car at the junction of Moss Bank Way and Knott Lane in Bolton shortly before 12.30am on Friday, August 2.

Emergency services attended and a 37-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

His condition remains serious, but stable.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He has since been bailed pending further police enquiries.



Witnesses said that shortly before the collision, there was an altercation between the pedestrian and the driver of a silver Seat Leon car.

The car was then seen to drive 'at speed' and collide with the pedestrian, The driver then fled.

The victim was left critically injured.

The car has since been recovered for forensic examination. 

Detective Inspector Andrew Fallows, of GMP’s Bolton district, said: “It is now a week since this incident which left a man seriously injured and fighting for his life. 

“We are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw a silver coloured Seat Leon in the area at the time, to get in touch immediately.”
