Teenager arrested in connection with housebreaking after disturbance in Saughton Mains

A teenager has been arrested in connection with an incident of housebreaking following a disturbance at a flat in Edinburgh in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Officers rushed to the scene at Saughton Mains Bank shortly before 3am after a series of frantic calls from locals over a man allegedly attempting to break into a flat block on the street.

Police Scotland say they are now probing the incident, but confirmed a 19-year-old man has since been arrested.

A spokesman for the force said: “Around 3am on Sunday, 24 May, officers in Edinburgh were called to reports of a disturbance and housebreaking in the Saughton Mains Bank area.

“A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.”
