A 16-year-old boy has been arrested following a report of a sexual assault in South Woodford.

On Monday, a woman, aged in her 20s, was approached by a male at Granville Road, South Woodford. He then sexually assaulted her.

Despite the victim getting way from the male, he remained at the scene and exposed himself and began to commit an indecent act.

The woman called police and the male walked away.

Officers attended and following a patrol of the area the male was located, but he fled from officers avoiding capture.

Following local police enquiries detectives identified a 16-year-old male. He was arrested on Tuesday at an address in Redbridge on suspicion of sexual assault and indecent exposure.

He was taken to an east London police station and was subsequently released on bail to return on a date in late November.

The Met say enquiries continue.

Anyone who witnessed this incident or has information but has not yet spoken with police should call 101 or Tweet @MetCC quoting 5342/18OCT.
