Teenager arrested at Manchester Airport for attempted murder as mum and daughter fight for life

An 18-year-old man has been detained at Manchester Airport on suspicion of attempted murder.

It is the fourth arrest police have made following a horrific blaze in the Bentilee area of Stoke on Trent late on December 16.

As reported by StokeonTrentLive, care worker Sabrina Rushton, 31, and her 13-year-old daughter, Rubi-Mae Martin, both remain in hospital in a 'critical and stable' condition following the incident in Beverley Drive.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "Officers have arrested a fourth man in connection with a house fire in Bentilee last week.

"An 18-year-old man from the Stoke-on-Trent area was arrested at Manchester Airport on Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder.

"He has since been released on conditional police bail. Inquiries are continuing."

StokeonTrentLive has previously reported how Park Hall care home employee Sabrina jumped for her life from a first-floor window after the property had reportedly been 'petrol-bombed'.

Rubi-Mae had already managed to get out of the property.

Three other men from Stoke-on-Trent: a 28-year-old, arrested on suspicion of wounding; a 22-year-old and a 21-year-old both arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, are all currently on conditional police bail.

The latest arrest comes as family and friends of Sabrina and Rubi-Mae have been 'overwhelmed' by the mountain of donations of cash and everyday essentials.

An online appeal has already raised more than £2,000. Donations including clothes, cutlery, household items and Christmas gifts have also been dropped off at collection points.
