A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Edinburgh.
At around 8.30pm the incident took place on the Union Canal path, in the Westerhailes area of the city on Friday, March 13.
Emergency services raced to the scene where a 37-year-old woman was found seriously injured.
She was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.
Police confirmed the teenager is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Record: "A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in relation to an attempted murder in Edinburgh.
"The incident took place around 8.30pm on the Union Canal path in the Westerhailes area on Friday, March 13.
"A 37-year-old woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.
"The 17-year-old is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today."
