Teenager arrested after rental car crashes into bushes following police chase in Tameside

A teenager has been arrested after a rental crashed following a police chase in Tameside.

Police said they began pursuing the Hyundai estate car in Ashton last night after they believed it to be 'suspicious.'

The car then eventually crashed close to the Richmond Park estate in Dukinfield.

Officers have thanked residents on the Richmond Park estate for their help apprehending the suspects (Google Maps)

GMP posted a picture of the car next to a fence with its front end embedded in some bushes.

They said the driver made off on foot from the scene but said a 19 year-old man was detained in a nearby garden.

He has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.

"Vehicle awaits recovery back to it's rental company!"

A female also said to have been in the car was also detained nearby.

"Thanks to the Richmond Park residents that assisted with this job #Teamwork " GMP Tameside North's Facebook post added.
