A teenager has been arrested after an incident near a Lanarkshire school last Friday.

Police in Rutherglen were called by concerned members of Trinity High staff in relation to a disturbance that took place on nearby Glenside Drive.

It is thought the incident involved a number of youths, some said to be armed with weapons, with some of those involved chased to a nearby home.

The 14-year-old traced and charged is not believed to be a pupil at Trinity High.

A police spokeswoman told Lanarkshire Live : "Police were called around 1.40pm on Friday, 26 November following reports of a disturbance on Glenside Drive, Rutherglen.

"Officers attended and an 14-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

"There were no injuries.

"A report will be sent to the appropriate children's authority."

A spokesman for South Lanarkshire Council said: "We are aware of the incident, which was responded to promptly by the school and the police.

"We will continue to assist the police in any way we can."
