Teenager arrested after armed police called to 'altercation' in south Manchester

A teenager was arrested after armed police were called to an 'altercation' in south Manchester.

There was a large emergency response to the incident in Northern Moor, Wythenshawe on Sunday afternoon, which was said to involve a 'small group of males'.

Pictures from the scene show several police cars and armed police on Sale Road just after 4pm.

One witness described how officers entered a terraced house close to Wythenshawe Park.

He said police were also seen removing what appeared to be a large 'meat cleaver' in a clear plastic bag.

The 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of affray.

He's since been bailed pending further enquiries.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Police were called just before 4pm on Sunday, May 9, to a report of an altercation involving a small group of males on Sale Road in Wythenshawe.

"Emergency services attended the scene, however the group had dispersed prior to their arrival.
