Teenager approached by man in car as she cycled home in Stirling

A teenager was left alarmed after she was approached by a man in a car as she cycled home in Stirling.

The 18-year-old was cycling along Airthrey Road in Bridge of Allan, between Stirling University and Causeywayhead around 8.05pm on May 8 when the man drove up beside her.

She did not know him but he engaged her in conversation and continued driving along beside her as she tried to cycle away.

Officers say the woman was alarmed and sought help from a friend before the man subsequently drove off.

Police are now checking CCTV images for any additional information on the driver of the car.

Constable David Collins said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident for any information.

“Perhaps what you saw seemed perfectly normal but in light of our appeal, your information could be important.

“I would also appeal to any motorists driving along that stretch of road at the relevant time who have a dash cam to check their footage.

“You may have captured footage which could assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call officers at Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1747 of 8 May 2020.

People can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be passed on anonymously.
