A teenager was among four people arrested following the seizure of three guns in Limerick city.
The suspects, aged between 19 and 45, were detained after the operation in the city's southside on Tuesday.
The suspected firearms were discovered by gardai with the help of the Defence Forces.
A spokesman said: "Gardaí have seized three suspected firearms following searches conducted in the southside of Limerick city today, 14 January.
"The suspected firearms were located by the Divisional Search Team with the assistance of the Defence Forces. The three suspected firearms will now be sent for technical examination.
"No further arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
"The four men aged between 19 and 45 and one juvenile remain detained at Roxboro Road and Henry Street Garda Stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984."
