Teenager airlifted to hospital after being 'trapped under bus' in Arklow, Co Wicklow

A teenager has been airlifted to hospital after he was trapped under a bus in Co Wicklow.

The incident happened on the Main Street in Arklow town at around 4.30pm this afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the teen was airlifted to hospital, reports irishmirror.ie.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardai are at the scene of a single vehicle RTC that occurred on Main Street Arklow this afternoon at approximately 4:30pm.

"A bus collided with a 14 year old male youth and he has been airlifted to Temple Street Children's University Hospital with non life threatening injuries. 

"The road is currently closed but Main Street, Arklow is accessible. Investigations ongoing."

An AA Roadwatch spokesman added: "Vale Rd (R747) is blocked in Arklow at the Main St as Gardaí deal with an incident. It’s very slow on all approaches and diversions are in place."
