Teenager, 19, in hospital with serious injuries after Salford stabbing

A teenager is in hospital with serious injuries tonight after he was stabbed in Salford , police have said.

A police cordon is in place in the Swinton area and enquiries are continuing, Greater Manchester Police said.

There's been no confirmation of any arrests.

The victim - aged 19 - was rushed to hospital, where police described his injuries in a statement as 'serious'.

No further details have been revealed.

Police going door-to-door (ASP)

GMP confirmed officers were called to Sefton Road in Swinton at 8.45pm to a report of a stabbing.

Police attended and found the 19-year-old had been attacked, the force said.

Paramedics were also mobilised to the scene.

In a statement to the Manchester Evening News tonight, police said: "At around 20.44 on Wednesday, June 23, police were called to a report of a stabbing on Sefton Road, Swinton.

Police were called at 8.45pm (ASP)

"Officers attended and established that a 19 year-old male had been assaulted.

"The victim has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"A scene is currently in place and enquires are ongoing."

Sefton Road runs off Station Road, just past Swinton railway station.

A large police cordon extended down Sefton Road to the junction of Raymond Street tonight.

Uniformed police officers were also spotted going door-to-door in the area as an investigation was launched.
