Teenager, 18, rushed to Queen's Medical Centre after serious crash in Leicester

A teenager has been rushed to Queen's Medical Centre after a serious collision in Leicester.

The accident happened on Southgates underpass at around 1.30am this morning. The road is currently closed.

It involved an 18-year-old man who has been taken to the Nottingham-based hospital. The teen, who was the driver of the car, has life-threatening injuries, reports LeicestershireLive.

Three other occupants of the car are also being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, according to Leicestershire Police.

Detective Sergeant Ed Des-Chanelle, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: “I would like to speak to anyone who was travelling through Southgates Underpass this morning to get in touch.

“I would like to speak to anyone who was travelling either southbound or northbound and who has a dashcam installed in their vehicle.

"As this happened in the city centre in the early hours of this morning, I am particularly keen to speak to any taxi drivers who may have information.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who saw the collision occur, or the BMW prior to the collision occurring.”
