A teenager has died after falling from around 100ft on a mountain footpath in Wales.
The tragedy happened at Pen Pych Woodland Park, near Treherbert, shortly after 5.40pm on Friday.
Emergency services and an air ambulance rushed to the scene, but sadly the 18-year-old died as a result of his injuries, Wales Online reports.
The teenager, described as "quiet and intelligent" by devastated pals, has yet to be named, but police said his family has been made aware.
He is understood to have been trekking with a group of around 12 friends yesterday afternoon when he fell in the woodland in Rhondda.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: “We can confirm the death of an 18-year-old man at Pen Pych Woodland Park, Blaencwm, Rhondda. Emergency services responded to a report that the man had fallen from height in the woodland at 5.39pm yesterday.
“His family have been informed.”
Rhondda MP Chris Bryant has led the tributes to the 18-year-old.
He said: “I’ve just heard the tragic news from Treherbert last night. My thoughts are with the young man’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
Others have also paid tribute online, with many calling the death “devastating” and “heartbreaking news”.
Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
