Teenager, 17, taken to hospital after brawl breaks out in Heywood street

A teenager was taken to hospital after a brawl broke out in street in Heywood.

Police were called to a 'disturbance' on Bury New Road at around 8.40pm last night (Friday).

Officers found that six people had been in a fight.

A boy, aged 17, was taken to hospital with a minor injury to his abdomen.

He has since been discharged.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Bury New Road was closed off between Whalley Road and Heady Hill Road after the incident last night.

It reopened after around an hour.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 8.40pm on Friday 5 February 2021, police were called to reports of a disturbance on Bury New Road, Heywood.

"Emergency services attended and enquiries established that a group of approximately six people had been involved in a fight.

"A 17-year-old boy  was taken to hospital with a minor injury to his abdomen. He has since been discharged.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries remain ongoing."
